Grave 67 Stocks

Grave 67William Cecil Stocks MA, Priest. Scholar of Winchester College and New College Oxford. Assistant Master of Saint Edward’s School Oxford. Curate of Bracknell, Berks and of Misterton in this county.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.

In a little wrath

I hid my face from

Thee for a moment, but with everlasting

Kindness will I have mercy on thee

Saith the Lord thy redeemer.

We received a very interesting comment about the late Reverend (see the comments here), saying

I found this newspaper article dated 16 December 1916 about a former rector.
RECTOR’S FATAL FALL. Falling down lift well at Victoria Street, on Monday, the Rev. William Cecil Stocks (rector of Foston, Leicestershire), sustained injuries which proved fatal. He was formerly assistant master at St. Edward’s School, Oxford, was scholar of New College, and had been in holy orders since 1895, having previously held charges Bracknell and Misterton.
